Flugtag

Sun, 12pm, West Kowloon Heliport

When writing the latest Batman opus, the directors had a vision: the caped crusader would dive from a hovering helicopter into Victoria Harbour, marking one of the coolest entrances to Hong Kong in cinema.

Of course, the plan was changed when the production team arrived and actually took a look at the harbour. But what's too good for Batman is just fine for the rest of us, and so Hong Kong gets the honour of hosting Asia's first-ever Flugtag: the infamous celebration of flight in which members of the public attempt to travel as far as possible on homemade flying machines.

Entrants such as the Alive Not Dead team (pictured) will be zooming off a six-metre high, 30-metre-long ramp, which will act as a runway. Cue much flapping, waving and - if past Flugtags elsewhere are anything to go by - pedalling, before finally flopping into the harbour.

Batman it ain't, but as anyone who has seen a Flugtag elsewhere will know there's no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
