1. Love You and Hate You - Lee Heung-kam

Lee is a veteran Cantonese opera singer and actress. I like her oldies from the 1970s: the lyrics are simple and direct, unlike modern Canto-pop.

2. Bye Bye Black Bird - Dean Martin

I heard this in the movie Public Enemies which I saw at an old cinema in Macau. The movie, decor and audio are still fresh in my memory.

3. Fill in the Blank - Anthony Wong

The witty lyrics resonate with the hearts of Hong Kong students. The tranquil, magical melody reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence.

4. Quizas, Quizas, Quizas - Osvaldo Farres

Reinterpreted by Nat King Cole in the movie In The Mood for Love by Wong Kai-wai. In English, it's known as Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps.

5. California Dreaming - The Mamas & the Papas

This popular tune appears in many different movies from Chungking Express to Forrest Gump. An uplifting hippie tune that makes you want to dance all night.
