It's time to Glow

A lot can happen in a year. Celebrities go to jail, fashion designers embrace curvy silhouettes and blue aliens are the hottest thing to hit Hollywood. But, more importantly, we've given Glow a head-to-toe revamp.

As the magazine got bigger, the old A-to-Z format just wasn't working any more, and we've decided to make Glow more reader-friendly this year with full-length features, profiles, product pages, a beauty shoot and even, lo and behold, a men's section.

In this issue, we look at the impact of anti-ageing products in the market and on our mentality, and dangerous beauty trends that are putting our health at risk.

Emmanuel Faipoux takes a break from saving the environment and bad hair days to tell us about how his eponymous salon and spa is changing the way Hongkongers think about green beauty practices, while writer Suzanne Harrison brings us the latest news and expert advice on everything from eyebrows to nails.

If seductive scents are more your thing, Elizabeth Horscroft takes us on an olfactory journey behind the scenes to discover how master perfumers take the first step towards creating a fragrance that has the ability to imbue emotions and evoke memories.

If you just want to know what shade your eyelids should be this season, our trends report gives you the top four beauty looks, make-up tips and product recommendations.

To celebrate the arrival of winter, we've also put together a gorgeous beauty shoot showcasing the season's cool, almost cyber colour palette.

Aqua-hued make-up and space-inspired lashes never looked so good.

In our all-new men's section, celebrity make-up artist Gary Chung lets us in on his secret of eternal youth, and we've put together a short list of products for all the men out there who are still using their girlfriend's raspberry lip balm.

If all that seems a bit overwhelming, flip over to our spa section to find out some of our favourite out-of-the-ordinary treatments that Hong Kong has to offer.

We hope you love this new issue of Glow and, as we look forward to another year, here's to you looking as gorgeous in 2011 as you did in 2010.

Happy primping,

Jacqueline Tsang
