It was a good thing that crooner Jing Wong (pictured centre with Christina Paul, left, and Kay Wong) was in top form at the opening of his indie fashion label Daydream Nation's flagship store in Hong Kong this week. As the musical half of the brother-and-sister team behind the 'arts house' boutique, Jing Wong sang to an audience that included Taiwanese songwriting legend Lo Dayou and former RTHK head Cheung Man-yee.

'I'd better not screw up,' Wong joked as he started one of his original songs. 'Like most of my compositions, I worked this one out while busking around Hong Kong. I'm so happy that I finally have a covered space in which to sing for friends,' he said, referring to the upstairs 'creative lounge' area of the shop.

Daydream Nation holds workshops for anything from candle-making and pinhole photography to design. Jing teaches guitar and the shop features clothing and accessories.
