The Environment Bureau is assessing the findings of a study it commissioned on energy wastage and the nuisance caused by external lighting, environment secretary Edward Yau Tang-wah said yesterday. 'We are consolidating the findings of the study and considering ways to regulate external lighting,' he said in a written reply to lawmaker James To Kun-sun. The bureau will make recommendations which it will discuss with the relevant Legco panel, stakeholders and advisory bodies early next year, Yau said. Complaints about lighting pollution rose from 103 in 2007 to 389 last year.
