Editor's choice - sit + snooze

Eye candy

Karim Rashid has collaborated with Spanish furniture manufacturer Vondom. The collection includes Doux (above), and one of the highlights of this product family is the multifunctionality of the table - when put on one side it fills the role of table and has a hole that works as room for storage; when facing upwards, the hole doubles as a flower pot or an ice-tray for champagne or wine bottles. www.vondom.com

Give me shelter

Italian design studio Bestetti Associati and furniture-maker Paola Lenti have joined forces to create the Cabanne outdoor shelter. Simple in form, it combines high-tech materials to create a contemporary structure of iroko wood and metal to provide super-cool protection from the elements. For more, see the Hong Kong representative at ViA (www.viahk.biz) or visit the Paola Lenti website, www.paolalenti.com

Go with the flow

Irish designer Joseph Walsh has created something for romantics. The Enignum Canopy Bed from his Formations collection brings nature indoors. The bed's soft-flowing fluid design is not an easy feat to accomplish with wood, but this self-taught designer has done it beautifully. Ash wood is cut in thin layers and shaped using its natural elasticity and organza is draped over the frame. Each bed is a one-of-a-kind piece. For details visit www.josephwalshstudio.com

It's a wrap

How do you wrap yourself in comfort, while at the same time add a contemporary aesthetic to your bedroom? Italian company Lago might just have the answer in the form of the cool Col-Letto bed. This innovative piece of furniture features a flexible visual and sound barrier that borders the bed and can be flipped up, pushed and pulled, and flipped down like a turtleneck collar. The two-toned bed frame is available in a variety of colours to suit your decor. Matching nightstands that roll down are also available. www.lago.it
