Achievements Kelvin, 18, is captain of the DBS team that won the 2009/2010 All-Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Basketball Tournament. His team was also runner-up of the 2010 Panasonic Cup Schools' Basketball Championship.
He represented Hong Kong in the 2009/10 Nike China High School Basketball League (CHSBL) held in Sichuan in April. His team came third, the best result for a Hong Kong side in the competition.
He is a member of the Hong Kong Basketball Association under-18 regional squad and will represent the city in Asian tournaments.
Soundbite 'My most memorable tournament was the 2009/10 CHSBL. We did a great job to advance to the semi-finals. It was a notable achievement of my career as we were the first Hong Kong team to stand on the podium at the competition,' said Kelvin.
'In a recent inter-school competition group stage match, we were beaten by La Salle College by one point so we were only able to advance to the next round as the group runner-up. We will probably face our old rivals Ying Wa College in the semi-finals. In the past few years, we always faced them in the finals. We all know we are going to win the final if we can beat Ying Wa in the semis.
'The defeat against La Salle shows there are problems in our team. To win a title, we need to work together and boost our team spirit. Although we have top players, that is still a challenge to them. After all, basketball is a team sport.' From his coach 'Chun-ming is a mature boy who does the right thing at the right moment. He is always looking to improve himself in both academic performance and sports,' says Lau Yu-lun, coach of the DBS basketball team.
'He has shown a burning desire and determination to lead the basketball team and is a good role model for younger basketball players. I am proud to be his coach.'
Ambition 'I hope my team can get on track to fight for the Division One inter-school championship trophy. We also need to defend the Jing Ying tournament title this year,' said Kelvin.
