This week we test: cleanser

In a city that suffers from high pollution levels, a good cleanser is essential. Follow with moisturiser, especially now as the cool, dry weather sets in.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mousse Cleanser (HK$99.9/150ml)

Instantly foamy, this is gentle and hydrating, yet washes out all traces of dirt and grease. The cucumber scent is refreshing and skin is left smooth and super-soft. A great bargain.

Biotherm Biosource Hydra-mineral Cleanser Toning Mousse (HK$170/150ml)

The moment you mix this cream with water it transform into a creamy sumptious mousse that tingles on the skin and gently removes makeup. It leaves you feeling refreshed. You'll need to moisturise afterwards though.

DHC Deep Cleanser Oil (HK$230/200ml)

This popular olive oil-based cleanser is simple and effective. It removes heavy makeup and is easy to rinse off. Don't forget to apply moisturiser afterwards, though, as it can leave your skin dry.

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild (HK$165/200ml)

A very gentle product suitable for daily use. Not strong enough for heavy makeup, and the 'perfume-free' scent isn't particularly appealing, but as it suits most skin types, that's a small price to pay.

Anna Sui Oil-Control Gel Cleanser (HK$205/200ml)

A rather effective cleanser that does exactly what it's meant to: the liquidy, oil-free gel leaves skin refreshed and smooth. Not ideal for dry skin.
