Passionate team eyes mainland

How many shops does Europe Group of Companies have in Hong Kong and on the mainland, and how many more do you intend to open?

We now have four multibrand shops named Europe Watch Company, which are located in Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and Beijing. We also operate single-brand boutiques in the most prosperous cities on the mainland and in Hong Kong. They include Chaumet, Rolex, Panerai and Piaget. In future, we shall [continue to explore] opportunities on the mainland.

How does the company stay competitive selling multiple brands when a lot of brands are opening standalone shops?

Opening standalone shops is a prevailing market trend. Such a strategy is suitable to those brands with a huge and varied collection. As a young, passionate, sagacious luxury watch retailer, we put great emphasis upon developing EWC's image, creating our own retail advantage by carrying a comprehensive mix of brands that include, not only prestigious ones, but also avant garde luxury to satisfy different kinds of wants.

Who are EWC's customers?

With the extraordinary brand mix, we are able to satisfy different customer demands. This enables us to cultivate a broad range of loyal customers. It is really exciting to notice a newly rising group of young customers who appreciate high-end watchmaking, value unique craftsmanship and are fond of collecting masterpieces.

What plans do you have for the future and how do you intend to expand your business?

The mainland is the future of the global watch industry. It is foreseeable that some major cities on the mainland will rapidly develop to be as mature as Hong Kong. This will further catalyse the development of the high-end watch industry in terms of space and huge market demand. With almost 10 years of development experience on the mainland, we have learned a lot from this ever-changing market. Having experienced and overcome different kinds of challenges, such as high operation costs, insufficient management talent and diverse market demand, we are confident of expanding further to other major cities, strategically. The country's watch market will surely be under the influence of emerging young entrepreneurs. We are ready for this rising trend.
