Hong Kong could face old rival Kuala Lumpur in a race to host the 2023 Games after a senior Malaysian sports minister said he was ready to convince the government to make another bid. Ahmad Shabery, the minister of youth and sports, said he would push for a 2023 bid and would seek the Malaysian cabinet's approval. But like Hong Kong, that will depend on public support.
