Nicole Fardel led a valiant attempt but Hong Kong fell agonisingly short of winning a bronze medal in the eventing team competition, coming up short by just 0.3 points. Three clear rounds in showjumping from Fardel, riding The Navigator, Annie Ho Yuen-yan on Undulette and Chan Sai-kin on Castell 4 gave Hong Kong an inkling of hope. The fourth rider, Jennifer Lee on Strong Scotch, struggled and had one rail down. China - fielding an eventing team for the first time at a regional contest - won the bronze with 164.90 penalty points, bettering Hong Kong's 165.20.
