Shopaholic tai-tais cash in on promotions at Lane Crawford birthday bash in IFC
with Vivian Chen
On cloud nine would be an understatement to describe the situation when shopaholics are cut loose at an exclusive sales party, and oh, when there is also Veuve champagne flowing freely along with pink cotton candies.
The spree certainly won't be healthy for its bank account, but it was just fine as a big sweet birthday gift for Lane Crawford - the local fashion chain that hosted a soir?e last week to celebrate its 160th anniversary.
Socialites and celebrities were invited to the celebration, namely Carina Lau Ka-ling (pictured left with Jennifer Woo, president of Lane Crawford), Jennifer Tse Ting-ting and Kathy Chow Man-kei.
And where did they channel their high party spirits and strong buying powers? Look no further than Lane Crawford's flagship store in Central's IFC Mall.
It was expected to be a busy night for business - even salespeople from other shops were pulled to cater to the special event, and perhaps keep an eye on any possible champagne spills or food stains on the fashionable goodies.
There were extra incentives to shop during the night. Game chips were given away if you spent over HK$3,800, and with those chips you got prizes in other game booths - discount coupons for your next purchase with Lane Crawford.
This smart promotional strategy seemed to click among the VIPs, plenty of whom left the party overloaded with shopping bags.
Oh well, what better place to show off your buying power than a party where all your tai-tai friends are invited? With all the added value, some might have thought it was a real bargain.
