Let voices of opposition be heard
Zhao Lianhai, the milk scandal hero, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison. He has been accused of 'provoking quarrels and making trouble'. This is unreasonable.
Zhao is a hero not only because he was brave enough to fight for justice for his son, but he also gave up his job to become a activist to help similar victims' families.
How can such kind-hearted and selfless people be imprisoned? If the central government continues to silence voices of opposition, it will never achieve true democracy.
Beijing needs to change its way of dealing with this kind of so-called sensitive topics. It needs to be open-minded, or else China will be boycotted by other countries.
