Suicide jumper falls onto pedestrian below
An elderly pedestrian was treated for multiple injuries after being hit by a man who jumped to his death from a public housing block in Wong Tai Sin yesterday. The 68-year-old man was on a footpath outside Lung Chi House on the Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate when the incident happened at about 1pm. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The 59-year-old who jumped from the window of his flat was certified dead at the scene.
Shots urged for high-risk groups ahead of flu season
Nine high-risk groups have been urged by the Centre for Health Protection to get vaccinations ahead of the flu season from next month to March. They include elderly people in residential-care homes, long-stay residents in institutions for the disabled, people with chronic illnesses and children between six months and six years old. Free seasonal-flu vaccines are provided for certain target groups at public clinics and hospitals.
Worker tackling snake dies
A Social Welfare Department employee died in hospital after collapsing while trying to help a colleague beat a snake in bushes at a youth hostel in Sai Kung Country Park. Police said there was no indication that the 44-year-old man had been bitten by the snake.
