Psychic Jack

1/F, 30-32 Wyndham Street, Central. Tel: 2868 6102

The vibe: your average lounge lizard doesn't really need to be told - somehow they'll always sniff out the latest cosy little cubby hole. And so it has already been with Psychic Jack.

There's been little fanfare about Wyndham Street's latest attraction but it's still making a lot of noise around town with the 'urban smart-casual' crowd that management is banking on attracting. Perched up high on the hill, it's the views that will grab you first - out over the Fringe Club and down to Lan Kwai Fong.

The island bar means you can get as close to - or as far away from - anyone you fancy and there are two spacious VIP rooms if you really want to shut the rest of the world out. And, if the weather gods are smiling, they can even open up the windows.

The drinks: the impressive wine cellar is hard to go past - especially if you're with a group and fancy sampling a few vintages. But start first with the cocktails - and you'll find all the old favourites here.

The lemon drops (HK$76) go down a treat, or even a Long Beach Iced Tea (HK$102) to get the conversation flowing. And then you'd be mad to pass up on the chance to sit back and savour the likes of the Il Borro Lamelle Toscana Bianco 08 (HK$600) as the loungey vibes start to work their magic.

The verdict: the masses have been migrating uphill to Wyndham for a while now - and with good reason, given the work going on further down the hill. Psychic Jack is a deliciously decadent addition to the scene, all comfortable relaxed hues as the Central nightlife bursts into life around you.
