Fashion brand Anteprima adds Hello Kitty's pals to its bag collection

Love it or leave it, you can't deny that Hello Kitty sells. The cute, innocent-looking and mouthless Japanese cartoon feline is everywhere - on candies, clothes and even toilet paper. Now, her Sanrio buddies, My Melody and Kuromi, are trying to keep apace in terms of commercial success.

Anteprima's Hello Kitty collection was such a success that the Italian fashion brand is continuing a special collection of its classic wire bag, featuring My Melody (a bunny who loves her cookies) and Kuromi (the bunny's friendly rival and a tomboy who loves mischief).

Celebrities and fashionistas were booked to plug the product at the launch party in Harbour City on Tuesday.

A photo of Canto-pop diva Joey Yung Cho-yee holding a Kuromi bag backstage at her concert got her voted the coolest Kuromi bag owner on Anteprima's Facebook page, beating other contestants such as model Kathy Chow Man-kei, singer-actress Race Wong Yuen-pui and her mother-to-be singer sister, Rosanne Wong Yuen-kwun. So the brand donated HK$100,000 to End Child Sexual Abuse Foundation, a charity beneficiary chosen by Yung (pictured).

She might have chosen a cause to benefit children, but don't get her wrong, Yung isn't ready to settle down.

'I don't think I'll have my own child,' she said. 'There are so many cute kids in our society that need my love and care.

'I think I've put all my energy into work. I would do anything for my career, but I'm more cautious when it comes to love and relationships.'
