Northern exposure

The new Club Med Yabuli (above), in northeastern China, has pistes and skiing tuition for all levels, and a wide range of apres-ski options, including horse-drawn sleigh rides, outdoor hot tubs, yoga classes, a spa and children's clubs. Club Med's Hong Kong website (www.clubmed.com.hk) is offering discounts of up to 40 per cent on Yabuli packages, with prices starting from HK$8,320 per person for a four-night, full-board stay, with round-trip flights on Hong Kong Express Airways and a ski pass.

Island escape

The Estates at Pangkor Laut (www. pangkorlautestates.com), an exclusive resort on the Malaysian island, is selling a high-end holiday experience. For US$35,000, up to six people can spend seven nights amusing themselves with indulgences such as yachting, spa treatments and deep-sea fishing, assisted by a team of butlers. Accommodation is at one of the resort's eight 'estates' (above) and the stay is book-ended by helicopter flights between the island and Kuala Lumpur airport. Mini breaks

The Peninsula New York (right) and The Peninsula Chicago (www.peninsula.com) have each just taken delivery of a pair of customised Mini Cooper S Clubmans (right), which are being offered to guests for shopping and sightseeing tours. Similar vehicles, sprayed 'Peninsula green', will arrive at The Peninsula Tokyo next month. Guests staying in suites at either of the American properties get up to three hours per day complimentary use, along with the services of a chauffeur. The cars are fitted with a minibar and an iPhone while rooftop boxes are provided for stowing shopping.

Deal of the week

Farrington American Express Travel is offering a reasonably priced two-night package to Chiang Mai, Thailand, with accommodation at several of the city's better hotels. These include De Naga Hotel (www.denagahotel.com) for HK$3,150, the Shangri-La Hotel (below; www.shangri-la.com) for HK$3,350 and The Chedi (www.ghmhotels.com) for HK$3,650.
