Stars of two eras make grand entrances, and exits, for opening of Pandora's jewel box
Normally when celebrities are booked for a commercial function, they appear at a similar time for more star-power impact. The Danish jewellery house Pandora's store opening at Causeway Bay's fashion walk was an exception, and not in the most fashionable way.
Veteran singer-actress Vivian Chow Wai-man (left) was at the ribbon-cutting and mingling with VIP guests such as Danish Consul General Torben Gettermann (right) and Pandora's Asia-Pacific commercial director Alan Wong (centre). It wasn't until about half an hour later that Angelababy Yeung Wing showed up to plug the new store. While paparazzi blocked Yeung's way in, Chow left the event by the back door.
It might be a Pandora myth that the beauties of two generations (Chow was big in the 1980s while Yeung is a new lang mo-turned-actress) were avoiding each other. In fact, they both had perfect alibis - Chow had to run for another appointment, while Yeung had been stuck in traffic, according to the event organisers. It's almost convincing - if the consul and half the journalists hadn't left by the time Yeung finally arrived.
At least Chow had the chance to say something nice about a customised golden charm bracelet. 'It's so creative that you can play with different charms. I picked the snowman because it's very wintry, and also the kitty charm. We have five cats at home. They are adorable.'
Oh well, she certainly doesn't need a creative excuse.
