Youngster lucky to avoid a nasty fall

Matthew Chadwick was pleased to be on Power Drifter as the horse scooted to a half-length win in the fourth, but a power drifting exhibition of a different kind had his heart racing later in the afternoon. Chadwick narrowly avoided a nasty fall on Regency Winner after the horse lost his action and barrelled into Spectacular Award in race eight, bouncing that horse into the rail and almost causing a pile-up at the rear. 'He was lucky to stay on his feet and I was lucky to stay on mine because the saddle slipped at the same time,' Chadwick said. 'He half shied at Go Fay Fay as that horse was crossing over, Greg Cheyne had himself clear by far enough, the horse just overreacted.' Fortunately all ended well and Chadwick was relieved to be able to recount his tale after the last and give the real Power Drifter a wrap. 'I liked him last start at Happy Valley, but he had no luck and got shuffled to the rear,' he said.
