'Nothing is forever'. I read this phrase in a novel and I loved it. I had mixed feelings when I saw the phrase - it's complicated but it's so true.
Yes, nothing is forever. But we all long for forever. We know everything must come to an end, but we are unwilling to accept this reality. We always think we can do things, such as treating our parents better, later, because there's plenty of time. We think they will be here eternally and there's a lot of time for us to be nice to them.
But no one knows what will happen the next minute. We should treasure everyone and everything we have so we won't have regrets. Those people and those things are not going to be around forever. Start by giving your loved ones a big hug today.

Thank you for your letter, Hoi-ying. At this time of year, many people like to look back over the past 12 months and count their blessings. Many also make promises to themselves or other people to improve in some way - do more exercise, write more letters, spend more time with their friends, help out more with household chores.
