Asian Games bid team chief resigns
Former senior civil servant Eddy Chan Yuk-tak has resigned as head of the Asian Games bid team, a week before the bid goes to Legco's Finance Committee for funding. With his contract originally ending on January 28, Chan, 59, quit on Monday to take care of his family, the Home Affairs Bureau said. His father was reportedly injured in a fall. His post will be filled by his deputy, Jack Chan Jick-chi. The bid proposal will be put to the vote at the committee meeting next week. Meanwhile, opposition by lawmakers remains keen.
