Nude is Rude
Who started it? Luxury resort label Nude is Rude was launched last year by socialite Marisa Zeman, daughter of Lan Kwai Fong Entertainments founder Allan Zeman. Born and bred in Hong Kong, Marisa studied graphic design in Melbourne, Australia, and interior design at the American College in London. The self-taught fashion designer also completed a foundation course at the British capital's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
Why we love it: Nude is Rude is an edgy and modern take on traditional resortwear, with styles suited to the beach or city life.
'I saw a gap in the resortwear market for cool, comfortable and versatile pieces,' Zeman says. 'I love the idea that people can wear something chic to the pool and wear the same thing to a party by accessorising it up.'
The line features a range of draped and comfortable separates made from cotton/jersey and modal for a flattering fit. The tops, dresses, kaftans and other items come in a variety of solid colours, ranging from green and black to white and pink and are designed with versatility in mind. Many styles come in a single size that would suit a variety of body types. The debut collection includes a range of chiffon and silk cover-ups in chic and colourful prints, as well as scarves.
What we'd pick: Bridget, the Grecian-inspired, one-shoulder dress (top left; HK$790 to HK$1,290). Pair it with Ingrid, a stylish cover-up made from cotton/spandex decorated with gold foil (left; HK$890) that can double as a belt. Another versatile piece that works for both the beach and the city is the Diana hooded jumpsuit, in long or short versions (far left; HK$1,190 to HK$1,490).
