Around 30 environmentalists staged a protest for more than one hour last night outside a busy Japanese restaurant which bought a 342kg bluefin tuna to serve to its customers.

An employee of the Itamae Sushi Japanese restaurant chain's Mong Kok outlet called police at 6.30pm after protestors from Green Sense and other environmentalists staged a protest outside the restaurant. Police said protesters left peacefully at 7.45pm. No one was arrested.

Itamae Sushi accused the protestors of disturbing its customers and said their behaviour was highly irresponsible and selfish.

On its website, Green Sense called for a boycott of Itamae Sushi outlets.
