There's no doubt about it, Whyte is the one

Jockey Challenge punters will rue the day Maxime Guyon returns to France at the end of his three-month contract, thankfully however, he is still here for another few weeks to make the market for Douglas Whyte, who is an overlay as $1.75 favourite largely because of Guyon's popularity and $5.50 quote.

Guyon has been hammered in betting for the past three weeks as his popularity among the punters has skyrocketed, but the fact remains despite going close on a couple of occasions, Guyon is yet to win a Jockey Challenge.

Punters looking for an alternative to taking the odds-on about Whyte would be better to look at Zac Purton's opening quote of $30 as better value than Guyon.

The decision to be made, however, is whether you want to back the value chance or back the winner - and the punters who fall in the second category will surely be on Whyte.

Two John Size-trained debutants give Whyte a good chance to hit the frame in the opening races, while Beautiful Choice and Bayview Greyslew are likely improvers in races three and four.

Dr Bullion and Rich Unicorn should keep the points flowing until Whyte hits the points jackpot late in the day with a promising debutant and talented young prospects in the treble races.

Keen Wongchoy, London China Town, Saddlers Lodge and Paganini's Soul are all great chances, and if Whyte leads the point-score at the end of in-play betting you can be sure you won't be getting $1.75 about him when betting closes prior to race seven.
