Ho sings the praise of apprentice So
Peter Ho Leung credited a canny ride from Ben So Tik-hung for victory on Joyful Years in the Midea Handicap on the all-weather track. Ho said while his galloper had been showing positive signs at trackwork in the lead-up to the race, it was the daring ride of the apprentice which finally lifted the eight-year-old to an overdue fourth career win. 'Ben rode the horse exactly right, he got him out and chasing and it didn't matter that he was wide,' Ho said. 'The horse is always consistent and always finishes close to the prize money whenever he races on the dirt, but he needs things in his favour to win, and Ben helped him today. He has always been a good horse on the dirt, but his recent trackwork also suggested he was ready to show his best form.' Joyful Years downed Bayview Greyslew by a neck, with a length further back to Ice Fire.
