Fownes' star wins battle royale
Punters tumbled into favourite Elusive Prince in the Samsung Handicap (1,000m), but it was another Prince they were all wishing they had backed. The Prince chalked up a maiden win for Caspar Fownes and replacement jockey Howard Cheng Yue-tin after Vincent Ho Chak-yiu was stood down with a heavy bout of flu. 'Vincent had the flu all week and the Club doctor checked him out before races and gave him all clear, but after the first event he felt very poorly and was stood down for the remainder of the meeting,' steward Steve Railton said. Ho wasn't feeling any better after watching Cheng punch out his winner, but it was a good result for connections, who had endured a frustratingly slow start to three-year-old's career because of injury. 'It has taken a while to get him back on track, but he's on the way now,' Fenella Fownes, standing in for Caspar, said.
