Sweet taste of success

Our motto at Methodist College is: 'We are here to nurture: Modest, Caring and Knowledgeable Leaders of the New Era.'

In line with this ideal, students organised a series of activities and raised HK$13,003 for Operation Santa Claus (OSC). The annual charity campaign is co-founded by the South China Morning Post and RTHK.

The school's English Ambassadors held a Christmas Card Design Contest. The 10 best designs were printed and sold in a fund-raiser. A Form Five drama group staged a production of Scrooge on December 22, during which audience members donated for the cause.

Tom Jinert, Methodist College exchange student On our school's Founders' Day on November 6, the Arts Society invited teachers, students and guests to create their own key chains.

The event was a fund-raiser for OSC. After their donations, participants received a plastic token with a picture on it that could be used as a key chain.

None of the guests hesitated to donate. This was the first time the school's Arts Society has raised funds for OSC. We hope the donations will go towards helping people in need.

OSC is always the most popular event for the English Society. As in previous years, our school took part in this meaningful and festive event.

We came up with three activities to raise money: selling chocolate marshmallows on Founders' Day, selling chocolate gift boxes in December, and circulating donation boxes during our morning reading period.

On Founders' Day, our society set up game stalls and a counter to sell chocolate marshmallows. It was a very successful event and our stall was crowded with students and visitors.

All committee members of the English Society helped make this year's fund-raising campaign a great success.

Students at Methodist College reached deep into their pockets to give to the cause.
