Taxi driver arrested after cab hits man, 66

A taxi driver was arrested after his vehicle, which hit a man at the junction of Cheung Sha Wan Road and Tonkin Street in Cheung Sha Wan, was intercepted by another cab yesterday. The taxi driver, 49, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and failing to stop after an accident when his vehicle was halted about 400 metres away from the collision at about 6.15am. The 66-year-old man who was hit suffered serious head injuries and was taken unconscious to Caritas Medical Centre. He was said to be in a critical condition. Police said the taxi driver passed a breath test and was released on bail.
