Pan-democratic legislators seek talks during Wang Guangya visit

Twenty pan-democratic lawmakers have written to Wang Guangya, director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, requesting a meeting during his expected trip to the city this spring. They hoped to exchange views on Hong Kong's political system, and economic developments here and on the mainland. The move follows the Beijing official's recent talks in Shenzhen with more than 30 pro-government Legislative Council members, his first formal meeting with Hong Kong lawmakers since taking office in October.

Recycling plant goes up in flames

About 100 firefighters took around 21/2 hours to douse a blaze at a recycling plant in Lau Fau Shan. Four workers were evacuated from the tin-sheet structure, used to store discarded computer components and waste. A fleet of 16 fire engines and two ambulances was sent to the scene. No one was injured.

Truck catches light after crash

A dump truck toppled over and burst into flames after a collision with a car in Clear Water Bay Road, Sai Kung, disrupting morning traffic in the area for more than four hours. The driver, 63, got out of the truck before it caught fire.

26-year-old collapses and dies
