The 5,000 public tickets that went on sale for the March 25-27 Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens were snapped up in just over an hour yesterday. 'I would like to thank the Hong Kong community for their continued support of this tournament,' Trevor Gregory, Hong Kong Rugby Football Union chairman, said. 'Despite the high demand, today's sale proceeded smoothly.' Tickets went on sale through Hong Kong Ticketing's hotline as well as online. Combined with sales to members of local rugby clubs and other stakeholders - corporations and sponsors - fully 75 per cent of the 40,000 event tickets were sold to Hong Kong residents. 'The remaining will be sold overseas.'
