A block of four 96 HK cent stamps sold for HK$6.4 million yesterday. A spokesman for the auctioneer, Spink, said it was a record at auction in Hong Kong, and that they had gone to an anonymous buyer. The colour was believed to be a mistake and only 52 sheets were issued, in 1865. A 1908 Qing dynasty $1 note sold for HK$2.4 million, a world auction record price for a classic Chinese banknote.
