Jimmy Choo likes HK's fung shui as he jets in for holiday

The secret is out: legendary shoe designer Jimmy Choo is in town after choosing Hong Kong as the best place to spend the Lunar New Year holiday.

'This is the Year of Rabbit and I feel that Hong Kong has the best fung shui energy,' Choo (pictured) said in his suite at the Kowloon Shangri-La yesterday.

'My in-laws are living in Hong Kong, and I spent Chinese New Year here 20 years ago. The weather is so good and transportation is convenient.

'I'd like to go to Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha.'

He has already prepared comfortable and stylish walking shoes - which he designed and made himself.

Famous for his ultra-feminine heels, the designer said he had made shoes for guys on a couple of occasions.

'Some of the husbands of my lady customers have come to me and complained that their wives are even taller than them in heels. I can design shoes for the men as well.'

Born to a family of famous shoemakers in Malaysia, Choo, now at the helm of his couture shoe line, has an all-star list of clients, including Princess Diana and Michelle Obama.

'My biggest challenge is to make shoes that are feminine, elegant and comfortable,' he said.

'Couture shoes are not just shoes, they are art. And you can become a part of the creative team.'

Watch out for the well-soled Choo while you are out and about town this Lunar New Year before he flies back to Malaysia.
