Unions for drivers of the city's three bus companies are demanding a salary increase of between 6.5 per cent and 8 per cent this year. They also have called for the daily pay of casual drivers to rise by HK$40. Chung Kin-wa, of the Motor Transport Workers General Union, said the demands were based on inflation and expected profits. He would not rule out industrial action if the demands were not met. A KMB spokesman said negotiations with the unions would start mid-year.
