Though his racing in Hong Kong has been restricted to the straight and right-handed turns, Dynamic Blitz raced left-handed when trained for eight starts in Melbourne as a young horse and the reverse direction presented no difficulty.

'I wasn't really surprised he was able to win so easily,' said Yiu. 'When I carried the saddle back to the weighing room, I was thinking he'll have thought he had nothing on his back after carrying 133 pounds last time, and he likes the Tapeta very much.'

With his all-weather options limited here, Yiu and Dynamic Blitz's owners sent the six-year-old to Dubai as a speculative trip to see if he could qualify for the Golden Shaheen on World Cup night (March 26).

And he was hardly respected by British bookmakers, who sent him out a 14-1 outsider.

'They have gone a really good gallop and that suited him perfectly. I thought he would run well but it is a nice surprise and the Golden Shaheen is the target,' said Doleuze.

Dynamic Blitz's campaign was to include another Group Three race on March 3, but he may miss the event if authorities respond with a ratings lift that assures him a start in the Golden Shaheen.

'It's not decided yet,' Yiu said. 'We'll have to see how he comes out of this race, and I also have to check with the Dubai Racing Club.'

Dynamic Blitz is the third Hong Kong-trained winner in the history of the Dubai International Carnival, but the first away from World Cup night.

In the past, Sha Tin all-weather form did not stand up at the old Nad al-Sheba sand track.

But Dynamic Blitz was only the second Hong Kong runner on the Tapeta surface after One World's third in the Golden Shaheen last year.
