Expo perfect for wedding belles
Planning a wedding is a mammoth task. It requires extreme organisational skills and co-ordination between scores of companies. So, for couples looking to find the right photographer, venue or florist, the 62nd Valentine's Wedding Service and Banquet Expo features some 800 exhibitors under one roof.
While most exhibitors are based in Hong Kong, about 10 per cent will come from the mainland, says Charlotte Fung, assistant manager for marketing and communication at Hongkong-Asia Exhibition, the organisers of the expo.
Held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the three-day event starts tomorrow, the ninth day of the Lunar New Year meant to symbolise long-lasting love. More than 80,000 visitors are expected at the expo, which is held four times a year.
As a new feature, couples can express their love for all to see on an LED screen. With the admission price of HK$20, visitors will also receive a coupon booklet worth HK$9,999 of savings from dozens of companies, including wedding gown rentals, restaurants and hotels. The admission ticket can be used to enter a lucky draw, with winners announced every day from 6.30pm to 7pm, with prizes such as make-up packages, watches, hotel buffets and crystal lighting.
For brides who can't decide what to wear, fashion shows run from 2.45pm to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Models will strut the catwalk in the latest wedding gowns, evening wear and a selection of Chinese wedding qipao. Companies in the fashion show include Monique & Co, Je T'aime Beaucoup, Matador Couture and Koon Nam Wah. If you want to increase your chances for a long and happy marriage, talks by fortune tellers are being held tomorrow from 3.30pm to 4pm, Saturday from 1.30pm to 2pm and Sunday from 5pm to 5.30pm. With hundreds of companies and services to choose from, here are a handful of exhibitors:
