The Lands Tribunal says it will consider whether a developer buying up old flats has made an effort to solve disputes through mediation before going to litigation for a compulsory sale. The tribunal's direction, which takes effect from Tuesday, states that if a majority owner buying ownerships in an old building for redevelopment refuses to attempt mediation with the minority owner, the court is entitled to refuse to grant the sale order.
