No sex please, our ancestors are resting, sign says
A sign in Clear Water Bay erected to keep people away has instead drawn even more attention to goings-on in the neighbourhood.
Couples have been driving to the remote locale along Hang Hau Wing Lung Road, where they park and get intimate in their cars.
But they are getting cosy next to a Chinese ancestral graveyard. Residents put up the sign in an effort to stop couples coming to the area.
On the sign is a shaking car with a couple having sex in it, crossed out. In English are the words 'NO DOGGING'. This is also written in Chinese, with other text below which translates as: 'In front of the ancestral tombs, don't mess around. Ghosts and gods are witnesses to what is happening. You will be responsible for the consequences.'
Dogging is a British euphemism for engaging in sexual acts in public or semi-public or watching others do so. Couples often meet randomly or arrange to over the internet. The original - and still related - definition of dogging is spying on couples having sex in a car or other public place.
The District Lands Office said the sign was on government land adjacent to the Permitted Burial Area of Pan Long Wan and Ng Fai Tin. It said it had not erected the sign and there were no records of approval having been given for its erection.
