This week we test: toner
Toner is not a gimmick. It's the second stage of cleansing that tightens pores, removes cleanser residue and prepares your skin to absorb moisturiser.
Benefit Woman Seeking Toner (HK$280/177ml)
This gel-like toner effectively removes grease and residue, yet is super moisturising. Not cheap, but a little goes a long way. Plus the packaging is fun. A new favourite.
Dermalogica All Over Clear (HK$238/120ml)
This mist really hydrates. There's no alcohol, so skin doesn't feel dry or irritated. However, the rather unfortunate initial urine-like smell is very off-putting.
Clinelle Purifying Toner (HK$120/200ml)
A gentle and effective toner. It soothes your skin but never stings, like some toners can. A pity it smells a little weird.
NAT. Face Restore Treatment Toner (HK$199/100ml)
Worth every penny! This toner has such a wonderfully fresh smell that should be made into a scent of its own. It doesn't dry out the skin but actually replenishes it. It's specially for sensitive skin which it leaves calm and clear.
Herbfarmacy Damask Rose and Echinacea Toner (HK$160/50ml)
The echinacea and rose mix is superb, leaving the skin fresh and clean. Too bad the bottle is so small; it makes it an expensive treat. 7/10
