Most customers of newspaper stalls - 69 per cent in a survey by a green group, an increase from 55 per cent in a 2008 poll - say the stalls should stop using plastic bags. Greeners Action, which carried out the survey, urged the government to extend the tax on plastic bags to ones used to carry newspapers, an idea that was supported by 56 per cent of the respondents to the survey, in which 908 customers in were interviewed from October to December last year.
