This week we test: liquid foundation

Foundation, pancake, base - whatever you call it, this is the layer on which all your makeup will rest. A good product covers spots and makes skin glow.

Shu Uemura Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation (HK$320/27ml)

Moisturising formula gives medium coverage of pores and small blemishes. Pump delivers just the right amount. No SPF.

Sofina Primavista Liquid Foundation SPF25 PA++ (HK$298/30g)

This offers long-lasting coverage, yet it's so light, it creates a peachy and barely-there look. Great that a sponge is provided.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid SFP15 Foundation (HK$250/30ml)

Thick and creamy, but easily blendable. With 30 shades, you're bound to find one for your skin. The matte coverage offers flawless-looking skin, and the oil-free formula is moisturising without stickiness.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (HK$400/ 30ml)

This does a good job of covering flaws and gives skin a soft satin glow, though not moisturised. The packaging is terrible: no pump, no sponge, and it's impossible to close tightly.

Ipsa Pure Protect Liquid Foundation SPF25 PA+++ (HK$320/25ml)

Housed in a sleek glass bottle with a pump, this brightening foundation does a nice job of disguising blemishes. The thick texture works well on dry skin.
