Crying soothes the soul

SCMP Reporter

People cry because of a lot of reasons. They cry when they are worried, they cry when they break up with their boyfriend or girlfriend, they cry because of the poor results ... I cry easily and I just can't stop myself from crying all the time.

Last time I cried when I was reading Charlotte's Web. I cried because I was touched by Charlotte's loyalty. She was a true friend.

I don't think crying is a problem - it's just a way of expressing my feelings. I believe even the toughest people have cried. Crying is a kind of relief. Although it won't solve your problems, you will feel better. I think crying is good therapy.

Thank you for your letter, Janet. Crying is a very interesting subject. You're quite right when you say that everybody has cried at some time or another. Many people wonder, though, why we cry. The human body is a wonderful thing. It constantly looks for ways to heal, and crying when you're emotionally upset allows this to happen. Often people remark that crying is like washing your soul. It definitely does make you feel better.
