A final-hole eagle helped Tiffany Chan defend her Hong Kong Ladies Close Amateur Championship title in style at Discovery Bay Golf Club yesterday. The student, 17, who began the day two strokes behind leader Mimi Ho, fired a 71 to cruise to a six-stroke win. Ho faded to a 78 to finish second, while Kitty Tam's 73 earned her third spot in the annual 54-hole tournament. It was not such a good day for first-round leader Tiana Lau, however. The 14-year-old started only four strokes off the pace but despite a good start, ended with a disappointing 86.
