Lightning to strike for value-play Whyte

The trio won eight of the 10 races between them at Sha Tin on Sunday, and once again Brett Prebble, Matthew Chadwick and Douglas Whyte look to have bold claims at bagging the Jockey Challenge at Happy Valley tonight.

In what promises to be yet another close contest, it is Whyte who stands out as the value chance at an opening quote of $4.

Prebble was last night posted as a $2.60 favourite, ahead of Chadwick at $3.80, but, with a strong card of seven rides boasting plenty of winning chances, Whyte looks the man to be on at the slightly longer odds.

Track Lightning should get Whyte away to a head start in the opening race - and the Caspar Fownes-trained runner will be hard to gun down over the minimum trip at his first Valley start.

Ho Ho Life is in great form and steps out to 2,200m for the first time in race three, but the way he powered to the line last start to win over 1,800m, the added trip appears to hold no fears.

Fantastich, Happy Cha Cha and Euro Swiftly are all solid each-way hopes and should add further to an already fat tally through the heart of the programme.

Whyte finishes strongly with Charity Spirit and last-start winner Absolute Hedge and it will take a solid effort from one of his main Challenge rivals to peg the Durban Demon back once he hits the front.
