Australian singer keeps fans happy with selection of tunes from new album

Fans in Hong Kong got a first listen to singer Lenka's new tunes on Monday night as the 32-year-old Australian performed a small show at the W Hotel in Kowloon.

Performing material from her upcoming second album, Two (which hits stores early next month), and favourites from her first album, the crooner showed why her vocal abilities have been praised worldwide. Fans seemed to love the new material, too, which was important to the singer, who said she felt pressure to recreate the bouncy sound of her first single two years ago, The Show.

That track was so popular it was used in more than a dozen television shows and commercials, and the singer - full name Lenka Kripac - said she wanted to give fans what they expected of her.

Her first single off Two, Roll With the Punches, is another piano-driven pop ballad. But the album also has a heavy electronica influence.

The daughter of a jazz musician, the singer said she wanted to combine different elements in Two.

After her show in Hong Kong, she was due to have a day sightseeing (she wanted to visit The Peak) and trying Chinese food before heading to Europe to begin her tour.
