HIV infection of HK gays on mainland doubles

The number of Hong Kong gay men infected with HIV on the mainland doubled in 2010 when compared to 2009, latest Department of Health figures show. In 2010, 10 of the 126 Hong Kong gay men who contracted the virus, were infected with it on the mainland, compared to five out of 128 in 2009. A total 389 Hong Kong people were infected with HIV last year, slightly lower than the 396 recorded in 2009. Seventy-nine people developed Aids last year.
