Bloodstock agent calls it right
The man who is responsible for Beauty Flash being in Hong Kong, bloodstock agent Dan O'Donnell, found out the actual price of the chestnut's success at the New Zealand yearling sales last month. Four years ago, O'Donnell (pictured) purchased Beauty Flash, a son of Golan, for owner Simon Kwok Siu-ming for only NZ$65,000 at the Karaka sales, which he recalls being around HK$300,000 at the time. In early February this year, he purchased Lot 349 in Auckland, another son of Golan, and O'Donnell's call on the youngster's appearance was that it 'is like looking at a twin brother to Beauty Flash'. Alas, probably due in no small part to the success of the multiple Group One winner trained by Tony Cruz, the price this time was NZ$250,000 (HK$1.43 million) - but no-one will be complaining if he turns out to be as good as his likeness.
