Multi-talented Ku finds happy balance between art and performance
It's hardly news that Canto-pop singer Leo Ku Kui-kei has a thing for design. He's got his own comic character called Kubi and runs his own design studio called ABC (short for A Big Company). Last week, he was appointed creative director for a collaborative T-shirt project with Giordano and Ocean Park. The question now really is how he balances his design and show business careers.
'I'm happy that I get to continue developing my other interests, but I won't give up being a singer,' said Ku at the launch event in Giordano's flagship store in Tsim Sha Tsui last week. His T-shirts featuring a cartoon hammerhead shark character were designed to celebrate the opening of Ocean Park's Aqua City aquarium addition and to raise awareness of ocean conservation.
Once the project is finished, Ku will switch back to show business.
'I have a new Cantonese album coming out before casting for a TV series,' he said. 'Then I'll be preparing for my concert and a next album.'
It seems we won't see a new Ku comic design any time soon.
