Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference delegate Wang Quanshu, chairman of the advisory body in Henan, proposed that the government stop using 'yellow' to mean pornography. Across the mainland, there are so-called anti-yellow campaigns. Ask a 10-year-old what yellow means, and his face will go red. Yet most Chinese proudly call themselves the offspring of The Yellow Emperor, the Yellow River is their mother river, a fortunate day is 'yellow', and they are the 'yellow' race. From the Tang dynasty, each emperor reserved the colour yellow for himself. 'In Chinese tradition, yellow represents the ultimate authority and enormous power of the government, not porn,' Wang said.
