Kelly Chen reveals on blog loss of twin daughters in miscarriage

Singer-actress Kelly Chen Wai-lam revealed on her blog yesterday that she had lost the twin daughters she was expecting through a miscarriage.

The 38-year-old announced in January that she was pregnant for the second time, and expecting twins with her businessman husband, Alex Lau Kin-ho.

She said on her blog yesterday: 'I have just experienced the most difficult week in my life ... though having tried very hard, two daughters cannot live with us at last. The doctor said there is no special reason.'

She said through her assistant Leo Tam Ka-ming that she was optimistic and could handle her emotions.

Tam said doctors had told Chen that there was a higher risk when carrying twins.

'When she was carrying her babies in the fifth month, she suddenly had symptoms of labour contractions. So she went to Queen Mary Hospital ... her husband was by her side around the clock. Other family members and her son were there too,' he said.

Chen said in her blog: '[I] hereby say thank you to all the doctors, nurses and medical staff in Queen Mary Hospital for their utmost care, encouragement and comfort.

'Please don't worry about me. I will take a good rest. Once I am ready, I will meet you all again. Thanks for all your blessings.'

Tam said Chen had returned home from the hospital. He declined to say when she had been admitted.

The Canto-pop singer gave birth to her son, Chace Lau Sing, at Canossa Hospital in July 2009 after marrying her husband in October 2008.
