The five yellow star, or wu wong, sector, is often mistakenly believed to be an area in which something disastrous is going to happen. The negative earth energy of the sector is stimulated by activities that disturb the prevalent energy, such as the knocking down of walls and drilling. This year, it is located in the east. This does not mean that people sitting in eastern sectors or those with their back to the east will suffer mishaps or accidents. What it does mean is that you should not undertake major renova- tion or restoration work in the east this year, because by disturbing the five yellow star's energy, the possibility of accidents occurring will be significantly increased. If you can't avoid carrying out renovation work in this sector, consult a fung shui professional to advise you on strategies that will alleviate the problem.

Another problematic sector this year will be the north, which is where the aggressive three star resides. This star represents arguments and over- work, so those working in the northern sector this year may find themselves working long hours with diminishing returns. As this star is represented by the wood element, its energy can be reduced by using the fire element. So placing red objects such as a rug or soft furnishings will reduce the negative wood energy. Obviously, it is not prudent to use real flames due to the risk involved.
